Welcome!

Preiskovalno.si bo medij posebnega pomena. Posebnega zato, ker bo prvenstveno namenjen novinarskemu preiskovanju vaših zgodb, obenem pa bo gledal pod prste vsaki vladi.
Osnovno poslanstvo medija je usmerjeno v izpričevanje zgodb ljudi brez zvez, brez političnega pedigreja in ljudi z roba. Skrbno bomo objavljali napredek v zgodbah in jih skušali pripeljati do epiloga.
Zdravstvu in okolju.
Preiskovalno.si bo zapik resnice. Zapik avtonomnega in transparentnega novinarstva, kjer bomo zavzeli aktivno, vendar apolitično držo do aktualnega družbenega dogajanja, brez izjem. Mediji smo namreč krona vsake družbe, ustvarjamo življenjske vzorce in postavljamo pravila družbenega ravnanja. Z mediji človek živi in umre. Ustava Republike Slovenije nam v svojem 39. členu zagotavlja svobodo izražanja misli, govora in javnega nastopanja, tiska in drugih oblik javnega obveščanja in izražanja.
Sveža medijska paradigma brez apokaliptičnega senzacionalizma, zavezana javnemu dobremu, toleranci in prosvetljenim idejam.
Objektivnost, pravičnost in javni interes so najina načela. Medij ustvarjava dolgoletni novinarki Nataša Markovič in Barbara Pance.

Welcome to Preiskovalno.si
Preiskovalno.si (English: Investigative) is a Slovenian independent media project dedicated to in-depth feature and investigative human stories. Our mission is to give voice to those without privilege, living outside the bubble of a chosen few, and to serve as a check and balance on every government. While we cover a variety of topics, our primary focus is on the most pressing issues of this century – healthcare and the environment. We are committed to autonomy and transparency, striving to be objective and fair. Our goal is to be unbiased opinion-makers, with our audience and the public interest at the forefront of everything we do.
The core mission of Preiskovalno.si media outlet is to highlight the stories of people without connections, without political pedigree, and those on the fringes. We will demand answers from those in power to your questions and highlight critical societal situations. We will write candidly about who responds and who does not. Which politicians are truly in service of the people and strive for social justice, and which are unresponsive and indifferent to voters and media inquiries. We will carefully document the progress of stories and strive to bring them to a conclusion. It will be easy to see which mayors, ministers, and public officials are responsive and which political parties have an agenda that resonates with the people. In addition to your stories Preiskovalno.si will also focus on the most pressing issues of this century: healthcare and the environment. These are perhaps less clicked-on stories but crucial for a society where cancer-related deaths are common.
Preiskovalno.si will be a beacon of truth. A beacon of autonomous and transparent journalism, where we will adopt an active, yet apolitical stance towards current social events, without exception. Media is indeed the crown of any society, creating life patterns and setting the rules of social behavior. With the media, people live and die. Literally and figuratively, the power of the pen can be more consequential than the power of the sword. The media holds the power of the fourth estate or the seventh force, and the exposed supervisory and critical function of journalism maintains the foundations of a healthy society. The Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia guarantees us freedom of expression, speech, public appearance, the press, and other forms of public communication and expression in Article 39. “Everyone may freely collect, receive, and disseminate information and opinions. Everyone has the right to obtain information of a public nature in which they have a lawful interest as provided by law.” A journalist’s professional duty is to expose deviant actions, anomalies of those in power, and representatives of key societal institutions and inform the public about them. And this is the power and responsibility of Preiskovalno.si. A journalist’s moral compass is the golden pendulum that keeps us within the realm of justice and law, directing and limiting our freedom of expression, which is responsible freedom. Freedom of expression indeed entails great responsibility andfreedom for responsible action. Only with autonomy can a journalist perform their profession honestly, truthfully, and credibly. Commitment to these basic tenets and values rests on the journalist’s free choice to be responsible and to answer key questions in society. To weigh them, assess them, put them in context, and present them to the public’s needs, demand systemic changes, and respond appropriately.
A journalist can only do all this in a media outlet where they are not trapped in an ownership relationship, where the media owner does not stifle their values with demands to serve economic and political interests but allows them a sovereign and responsible stance. Otherwise, as top Slovenian writer and French laureate Drago Jančar wrote years ago, it all leads “not only to controlled and directed media but also to a controlled society ruled by moguls and their lawyers, assisted by politicians and well-paid journalists.” And here is the commitment of Preiskovalno.si, that the goal will be the reader, viewer, listener, in short, the person who will be a moral law and not prey. A fresh media paradigm without apocalyptic sensationalism, committed to the public good, tolerance, and enlightened ideas.

Donations and funding rules
Every donation we receive from you, our readers, is dedicated to stories. Our work takes place on the terrain. Sometimes we spend a whole month investigating a story. Your donation makes it possible to prepare investigative articles that require more time. We believe investigative journalism is vital for strengthening democracy, upholding human rights, and safeguarding the future of our country.
Preiskovalno. si is a completely independent journalism platform from us, Natasa and Barbara, and will never be left or right, but it will always hold those in power accountable. When the left governs, we are accused of being right-wing; when the right comes to power, we’re attacked for being left-wing.
We feel this biased and unjust stigmatization every day. But it is becoming increasingly difficult to survive under each new government. We are excluded from public calls for funding and forgotten when it comes to invitations or awards. All the awards we have received are from abroad — from the European Commission, Le Monde Diplomatique (Slovenia), and the European Press Prize. That’s why we rely on those who believe in us. Your donations help us survive legal onslaughts and pressure campaigns directed at us.
They help us exist — to keep a close eye on those in power and try to prevent even greater abuses of public funds.
Our articles are available free of charge to all readers. Preiskovalno.si does not charge for access because the content is in the public interest. Alongside your support as readers, we also apply for funding through international calls. We are unlikely to succeed with domestic calls for funding, since we oversee those currently in power.
The Preiskovalno.si platform focuses on issues related to the elderly, human rights, healthcare, the environment, and politics.
Funding Rules:
Preiskovalno.si is not state-funded and did not apply for any funding from the Ministry of Culture in 2023 or 2024. Currently, Preiskovalno.si is financed through fact-checking for a major international media outlet, European public tenders, donations from individuals and legal entities, lectures, participation in panels, educational activities, and various research projects.
